Where we are : Clever = pulling off something complicated

Today we had interim and were given feedback from another group. It went a lot better than I had expected as I felt like we've been floundering. The feedback was aimed at our aesthetics but also translated to the text. We need to nail what we want to say in fewer words and create a document people actually want to read. Then work on the visual/ supporting imagery.
The other group had a much more fleshed out concept and brilliant ideas but there were too many. Instead of picking one they had run with three. I thought any one of those ideas would make a convincing brief.
I feel like we've been heading down the same path of taking too many angles at once.
What we need is something that is simple, effective and straightforward.
